Winter Camp 2008-2009
Sunday, December 28, 2008 thru
Saturday, January 3, 2009
A Camp McConnell Tradition...
Winter Holiday camp has become a fun, special tradition at Camp McConnell. This will be our 38th season. Once again the winter night hayride, camp fires, the Rockin' New Year's Eve Party with Dick Clark on the big screen TV, a fire in the fireplace at supper every night, hot chocolate between activity classes, the 18th annual New Year's morning McConnell Bowl, and in the afternoon Bowl games for the football fans and games or a movie for everyone else, and Pizza for all!
Most of all, Winter Camp is a tradition of friends and fun.
Our best staff from the summer return. Campers returning from previous summers find many old friends. Other campers bring their best friends from home just to introduce them to Camp McConnell. New campers make new friends.
Program...
Winter camp, you could say, is a lot like summer camp only colder. The cost for Winter Camp is $465.00 per camper or $420.00 if registred by December 1st or you bring a friend who has never been to Camp McConnell before.
So we won't be swimming, but... horseback riding will be that much more fun without the bugs & heat of summer. And since we don't have the expense of the pool we throw in horseback riding at no extra charge. If you don't want to ride we'll throw in the Ropes Course at no charge. Plus free camp store for all campers. Camper can choose to do both Horseback Riding and High Ropes, but there is an additional fee of $45.00.
And there's more: canoeing, riflery, basketball, arts & crafts, holiday cooking, pioneering, soccer, canoeing, mountain trail biking, archery, tennis, and more, and more, and more....
Special Programs and Evening Programs
Camp Carnival, skit night, campfire, dance, hayride, and the Van-go Scavenger Hunt, campers load the vans and, with camera in hand, head for town to collect items or photos on their scavenger list.
Camp in Winter...
Yes, the new cabins are heated with interior bathrooms not seperate bath houses! The new McConnell program hall is scheduled for completion. Camp McConnell has long been a popular spot for youth and church retreats. Hot cocoa all day long on cold days, optional movies every evening during free time. So snuggle up and cozy up to a FUN! FUN! week.
