McConnell YMCA Outdoor Center Facilities

The McConnell Outdoor Center is available for rental during non-summer months to organized groups. Typical events are annual company picnics, civic club socials, Christmas parties and family reunions.
Facilities include a lodge with a fireplace, Barbeque area, walk-in refrigeration unit, Bon-fire area and more.
Recreational facilities include an Olympic-sized swimming pool, tennis court, lakefront canoe outpost, two sand volleyball courts, softball field, basketball court and much more...
All of these same facilities are avaiable during overnight stays plus use of the newly built cabins with air conditioning.

ROPES COURSE

The McConnell Outdoor Center ropes course is one of the largest in Florida, featuring a 35' climbing wall/ repelling wall, a 250' zip line, and 6 other "high elements" plus a 12 element low ropes course. Our ropes course facilitators tailor the program to fit the needs of almost any group, young, old, or in between. We offer full day, half day, or weekend programs for groups of 15 to 150. Any group, any age, any time.

POOL & CANOEING

If your group uses the pool or lakefront for canoeing, certified YMCA lifeguards must be on duty. The cost of hiring lifeguards is charged to the group $25 per hour per guard. (Ratio 1 guard per 25 swimmers)

HAYRIDES & BONFIRES

Many groups wish to contract a Hayride as part of their event. Camp McConnell has a private contractor who provides this service. For reasons of safety he is the only contractor we allow on the property. His charge is $175 to pull groups in continuous rotation for 4 hours. He can also provide a Bon-fire for your group at a fee of $25.

EVENING GROUPS

Evening groups may be required to cover the cost of having supervisory personnel or security officers on duty during their rental of camp at the cost of $25 per hour. Security is only required for night time rentals.

The McConnell Outdoor Center is available to groups of all kinds for planning, enrichment, recreational, and educational events (during non-summer months). Lodging is available for groupes of 25 up to 200 plus, quality food service for all meals, both indoor and outdoor meeting rooms, and a variety of recreational opportunities.

Outdoor Education
Elementary & Middle Schools

Nature's Lab is an exciting, hands-on outdoor education experience. Available in a two or three day format, school groups of 25 to 150 may enroll. Students, teaches, and chaperons come for a full schedule of activities provided by the McConnell Outdoor Center staff. Call for a complete Nature's Lab brochure.

4 meals...$89.00 per student

Three Days (Two nights)...
7 meals...$109.00 per student

Rental Fees and Services

Rental of the camp on a day rental basis entitles the group the use of the following facilities only: Dining Hall (not kitchen), athletic fields, tennis court, BBQ pit and walk-in cooler, grounds and recreational equipment requested by the group. The pool and canoes, provided certified YMCA lifeguards are on duty. All other facilities are restricted.

SECURITY DEPOSIT

In order to reserve the camp, a reservation / clean-up and damage deposit of $200 to $500 must be returned with the signed contract. This deposit will be refunded:
1. Prior to the rental, with 30 days notice of cancellation.
2. After the rental, provided the camp is left in the same state of cleanliness and repair as the group found it.

Note: The entire deposit will be forfeited if there is any damage or clean-up remaining after the group's departure. Evening groups must complete clean-up and repairs resulting from their rental by 9:00am the following morning.

The McConnell Outdoor Center rates for overnight, conferences, and extended stays are below. This includes lodging, meals, and use of the facility.
Groups staying overnight without food service will be charged $8.00 per person plus the minimum daily rental charge.
