Junior Camps:

Guides Village – (Girls 7-12): Village Color - Green

Trailblazers Village – (Boys 7-12): Village Color - Red

The Junior Camp program is tailored to meet the needs of our younger campers ages, 7 to 10.  Junior campers participate in most of the traditional camp activities, including swimming, archery, crafts, Riflery or BB Target Sports, low ropes, climbing wall, canoeing, sports, campfires and much more.  Enthusiastic counselors lead our Junior campers in discovering the wonders of nature and camping while building confidence and independence.  Junior camp staff are dedicated to helping campers make new friends and creating a sense of belonging among cabin group members.  Camp programs, schedules and field trips are organized to ensure that Guides feel comfortable in their new surroundings.

Senior Camps:

Pathfinder Village – (Girls 13-16): Village Color - Yellow

Trekker Village – (Boys 13-16): Village Color - Blue

McConnell Senior Camp programs are designed for campers who are 13 to 16 years of age.  At Camp McConnell, we know the joys and demands of working with teenagers.  We have created a relaxed, yet structured camp environment without the peer pressures of everyday teen life.  The Senior camp program offers a more personally challenging camp experience, one that allows for greater self-direction, increased social interaction and programming requiring a higher skill level.  Along with all of the traditional camp activities, there are supervised Pathfinder only field trips, social functions, evening programs, peer group events and instructed activities.  Pathfinders seek new experiences, set goals and accept challenges.

Leaders In Training (LIT) (ages 15-16)
Leaders Village Color - Purple

The LIT program is a leadership development program for campers who are ready to take on the challenge of leadership in camp and in their community.  This challenging program provides endless rewards through new friendships, increased self-awareness, and new opportunities for growth and development as an individual.  Preference in selection is given to former YMCA Camp McConnell campers who are recommended to the program by their counselors, however, other applicants are welcome to apply for the LIT program.  All individuals who are interested in the LIT program are required to successfully complete the LIT application and submit three letters of recommendation other than family members.  LIT participants will be chosen by our camp leadership team and will be notified by the Executive Director.  The LIT experience itself is a three week program consisting of classroom training, hands-on volunteer leadership experiences as an assistant camp counselor, and an evaluation and critique of their performance.

Specialty Camps:

Super Combo Sessions
Super Combo sessions are designed to ensure minimum repetition and maximum fun.  Every Super Combo session includes a day tubing on the Icheetucknee, a between sessions camp trip, and the famous McConnell Luau, Field Day and Dance.

• Combo I – includes Session 1 & 2
• Combo II – includes Session 3 & 4
• Combo III – includes Session 5 & 6

All Super Combo sessions are three weeks.

Horse Camp
Camp McConnell’s horse camp is designed for those campers who truly love the interaction and hands on learning environment that our horseback camp has to offer.  The horse camp consists of learning about and sharing the responsibility for care of the horses, along with plenty of riding time and instruction for each camper.  Campers will spend five hours each day with the horses.   Campers will also have an instructional period with the camp’s veterinarian as well as the camp’s ferrier.  Enrollment is limited so don’t miss out on this great program (Limit 30 campers). 

Florida Adventures Week
During this week of extreme adventure campers can choose a one of a kind, exciting week of great trips away from Camp McConnell.  This special travel camp includes trips to:  Blue Springs, Sea World, a day at Crescent Beach, Busch Gardens, and a trip to Universal Studios. Join us for a week of traveling adventure while we tour some of Florida’s most exciting places.
