Our dedicated staff members are Camp McConnell’s most valuable asset.  From the moment your child arrives, our camp professionals are focused on making sure that your children have the time of their lives!  They exemplify the YMCA’s core values of Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, Caring and Faith.

A well-trained, enthusiastic staff is key to a positive camping experience.  Camp McConnell staff are chosen for their maturity, skills, patience, enthusiasm and desire to be good role models for children.  We believe that the campers that come to Camp McConnell are shaped by those around them.  Our purpose is to surround the campers with staff who have a strong values system, possessing strong moral character and the enthusiasm to have fun.   All of our staff attends an extended training session that focuses on child safety, effective camp leadership, programming, homesickness, character development, discipline, age development characteristics, facilitating fun activities and their place as models for your children.

Executive Director

I joined YMCA Camp McConnell in February of 2013 as the Program Director. In 2014 I began the role of Interim Executive Director and currently serve in the role of Executive Director. My goal is to build on the success of YMCA Camp McConnell and its programs, and ensure that our families and campers have an amazing experience.

2014 marked my 20th year in Summer Camping. I have experienced Summer Camp, Children and Family Programming, and Conference a Retreat Programming through Texas, Oklahoma, and now Florida. In that time, I have worked to create a safe environment where children and adults can learn and grow. I have made many lifelong friends at Camp and desire to pass those life changing experiences on to everyone who visits YMCA Camp McConnell.

YMCA Camp McConnell and all of the people here have become my home and family. I hope that you and your family will join us.

Operations Director

Can you taste it? The first batch of chicken is in the fryer, homemade biscuits are in the oven and the smell of desert fills the Kitchen. Soon my friends, we will all gather in the Dining Hall to welcome back our returning campers, meet new campers and share in the excitement each new summer and session brings.

As Operations Director, it is my duty to make sure that the facilities at McConnell are the best for your camper. We have worked hard over the winter to make some improvements to the facility that we think our campers will enjoy. I also am responsible for the kitchen and meals here at McConnell. You can rest assured that the same quality meals that have been “camper approved” over the years will be here for your child.

As the father of 4 boys and grandfather of 2 boys, I know the important role camp has played in their lives both as adults, and parents. I hope to help all of our campers grow into the positive role models that I have seen my children become. With over 34 years of experience at Camp McConnell I am able to work with our campers and staff to help make sure their time spent here is the best time possible.

Thomas Yeager

Associate Program Director

I joined YMCA Camp McConnell in October of 2014, as the Associate Program Director. My goal is to support James and Jerry in the operation of Camp and its programs.

I am originally from Sumter, South Carolina, where I spent the past 3 years working for the Sumter Family YMCA in their Child and After School programs. For the past three summers I worked with the Summer Day Camp, helping supervise the 6 to 7 year olds.

I became a Cub Scout in August of 2002 and earned my Eagle Scout in March of 2009. I am a Life Member of the National Eagle Scout Association and a Vigil Honor Member of the Order of the Arrow. Camping has been an influential part of my life and I am excited to bring my experiences to YMCA Camp McConnell.

Christina Frost

Marketing Manager

Christina’s relationship with camp began over a decade ago. Beginning first as a camper at McConnell (Honor Camper 2003), she enjoyed ropes, archery and field sports. During her time as a student at the University of Florida she volunteered over 20 hours a week to help camp prepare for the upcoming summer and with off-season groups. Once graduating from the University of Florida, Christina started working for the YMCA of the Palm Beaches and Camp McConnell as the marketing manager. She hopes that all returning campers and new campers alike grow to love Camp McConnell as much as she has.
