The “experience of a lifetime” for nearly 50 years grew from the generous gift by Dory’s McConnell Duberg in the name of her father, David Hall McConnell. Dory’s legacy gift from the heart has grown to become the magical place called Camp McConnell. Serving thousands of children, adults and families throughout the years, Camp McConnell is owned and operated by the YMCA of the Palm Beaches.
Summer camp is more than simply a place for kids to get away from home, meet new friends, and have fun. It provides children with a community of caring adults who help build self-respect and a safe environment where a kid can be a kid.
Located just 6 miles from the city of Gainesville, Camp McConnell’s 220 acres of hardwood forest, meadows and wetlands provides the perfect setting for campers to learn and grow as individuals. YMCA Camp McConnell sets the highest standards in resident camping through programs that match the interests and abilities of each camper.
Our desire at Camp McConnell is to create a place where friendships can grow and people can learn. Camp is about developing the life skills that help campers build and maintain positive relationships, learn about the difference in others, and feel confident in the person they are becoming. The values learned and the experiences gained by McConnell campers become a way of life.
YMCA Camp McConnell is rooted in the mission of the YMCA “To put Christian Principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all”. At Camp McConnell, we strive to enrich the character and the life of every individual using the YMCA core values as our foundation.
