The Camp McConnell Story:
Camp McConnell is owned and operated by the YMCA of the Palm Beaches. The camp was founded in 1967 when the YMCA purchased the former Briarcliff Country Club through a gift by Dorys McConnell Duberg in the name of her father, David Hall McConnell, for whom the camp is named.
Camp McConnell has a proud history, serving thousands of children through the years as that magical place called 'summer camp'. In addition Camp McConnell has hosted many speciality camps, including: Florida's first children's cancer camp, first children's diabetes camp, children's with hemophilia camp, children's Tourette's, Kidney, and Hospice Camps, ect.... Camp McConnell is a summer camp for all children: boys or girls, national or international, ages 7 to 15, and of any religion.

Excellence
Camp McConnell's setting and facilities provide for excellence. Camp McConnell stretches across 217 acres of North Florida hardwood forest, meadowland and wetland. It is the largest YMCA owned property in Florida. The eastern boundary traverses for 1/2 mile along the banks of George's Lake, an 80-acre fishing lake. To the north, south, and west lie rural Florida farmland and Paynes Prairie State Preserve.
Air conditioned cabins provide for comfortable living. There are 10 camper housing units, 5 new cabin units opened in 2003/2004, and more are scheduled to come in the near future.
Air conditioned Dining and Program Hall is a clean modern facility capable of serving up to 200 at a seating. The camp's new program hall serves as a comfortable indoor sight for campwide evening porgrams and as a weather protected activity center on rainy days.
The Camp's Newly Renoted Olympic Sized Swimming Pool is the centerpiece of the main camp area. A one meter diving board and diving well coupled with the 144,000 gallon main swimming area make the daily recreational swim hour a popular camp event.
The Camp Canteen is open every night after supper and irregular times during the day. Campers may come just to sit at the tables and socialize, to purchase candy or snacks, to work on a craft project for home, or to shop for camp logo paraphernalia, or basics like bath soap, shampoo, or toothpaste.
